Dear MSIA member,

One of the benefits of your membership is the MSIA Annual Meeting and Conference. This year it takes place on Tuesday, August 10, in the Lakeview Lodge at the beautiful Shanty Creek Resorts.

Held in conjunction with the Midwest Ski Areas Association Annual Conference, we encourage all SKI AREA members to attend the entire MSAA conference, including the session dedicated to the MSIA Annual Meeting.  Ski Area people, CLICK HERE for details on the MSAA meeting.  For all other MSIA members, we invite you to spend an information-filled day at Shanty Creek!

Here is a brief outline of the day’s events:

MSIA members are invited to join the MSAA Conference Attendees at 10:00 a.m. for Michael Berry’s keynote address.

Lunch is served at 12:30 for those who wish to purchase lunch tickets. (Available at Shanty Creek’s front desk on the day of our meeting for $18.76, including tax and gratuity. Lunch is included in the conference price for those who are attending the entire MSAA conference.)

The MSIA Annual Meeting will begin at 1:00. Agenda includes the following:

Dr. Dan McCoy of Michigan State University will provide a statistical analysis of the snowsports industry in Michigan – where we have been, where the industry is heading and recent trends.

Bret Marr of Muchmore, Harrington, Smalley & Associates will give a legislative update and explain the issues that the snowsports industry currently faces.

• Representatives from Travel Michigan will provide information on a NEW advertising partnership program between MSIA and Travel Michigan.

Mary Jo Tarallo, representing NSAA, will update us on the national, very successful Learn to Ski & Snowboard Month initiative.

• We will also discuss MSIA’s programs, including Ski Free with Shell, Discover Michigan Skiing, Cold is Cool Passport and more.

This is information that you can use for the coming season!
