Spring specials keep skiing and snowboarding going strong

Here is a list of ski area spring skiing activities and discounts from the Michigan Snowsports Industries Association.  With the great spring skiing weather we’re having, there’s plenty of snow and fun to be had on Michigan ski slopes.   Find links to Michigan Ski Areas and additional coupons and specials from this website.  Also, participating McDonald’s restaurants are distributing a Michigan skiing and snowboarding specials coupon, which provides additional discounts at ski areas throughout the state.

Boyne Mountain of Boyne Falls, 1-800-GO-BOYNE, www.boyne.com offers a

Ski & Waterpark Package which includes lodging, lift tickets, waterpark admission and a buffet breakfast for a family of four starting at $275.  Ski and snowboard when you want, then splash at Avalanche Bay – Michigan’s largest indoor waterpark.  Price is per room, per night, based on two adults, two children and availability.

Carnival Weekend is 3/14/08 to 3/16/08.  Boyne Mountain pulls out all the stops as Mardi Gras moves north for the weekend.  Bands, costume competitions, a slush cup and parties all over the resort make this a weekend to remember.

The 2008 US Open Snow X Championships is at Boyne Mountain on 3/28/08 to 3/29/08.  It is presented by the Michigan Snow X Racing Association and Boyne Mountain Resort and features 27 classes for amateurs and professional SNOCROSS racers and sponsor expo area.

Boyne Highlands of Harbor Springs, 1-800-GO-BOYNE www.boyne.com offers Krazy Daze 3/15/08.  Fun for the whole family awaits during this spring tradition.  Kid's events include a silly slalom, costume judging, NASTAR racing and pond jumping.

On 3/16/08, Boyne Highlands hosts the annual Boyne Highlands Downhill, an event for skiers who have a love affair with speed.  There are age brackets for everyone and a pro division that pays cash.

Also - Discounted lift & lodging packages are offered at both Boyne Highlands and Boyne Mountain starting March 17 and valid until the end of the 2007/08 ski season.

From March 2 through the end of the season, Caberfae Peaks Ski & Golf of Cadillac, 231-862-3000, www.caberfaepeaks.com offers a $9 lift ticket coupon, from 4 pm to close on Saturday, March 8th and from 4 pm to close on any Thursday for the remainder of the season.  Click on coupons and specials on this site for your coupon.

Cannonsburg of Cannonsburg, 616-874-6711, www.cannonsburg.com, has Sunday Crazy Rates every Sunday from 5 pm to 10 pm for $15.  It includes an all-area lift pass, complete rental equipment and beginner lesson.

Get Your Can to Cannonsburg is 5 pm 10 pm every Saturday. Bring in 2 cans of food per person and receive a $12.50 lift pass, $10 ski or board rental, and $10 class beginner lesson. All food items are donated to local food pantries.  Check Cannonsburg’s website for details on their 30 people for $35 special.

Cross Country Ski Headquarters of Roscommon, 1-800-832-2663, www.crosscountryski.com offers two for one trail passes, good any time through the end of the 2007/2008 season.

Crystal Mountain of Thompsonville, 1-800-YOUR-MTN, www.crystalmountain.com, offers a Buy 2 Get 1 Free ski package.  Pay for two nights and receive an additional midweek night for free.  Or pay for four nights and get two midweek nights for free, starting March 9, 2008.  Valid midweek through the end of the season and weekends starting March 28.  Check Crystal’s website for details.

The Homestead of Glen Arbor, (231) 334-5000, www.thehomesteadresort.com offers a special Lift & Lodging package which includes accommodations and a lift ticket for skiing two days for only $76 per person, per night.  Call for availability and reservations.

Marquette Mountain of Marquette, (906) 225-1155, www.marquettemountain.com is allowing anyone who purchases an 2008/09 Season Pass now the opportunity to ski March and April of '08 for FREE!  Season Passes are on sale now until July 1 for $309 or you can take part in our 3 pay option for $339.  Please call for more information.

Mt Brighton of Brighton, 810-229-9581, www.mtbrighton.com has a combo package including a beginner rope tow ticket, rental skis and a group lesson for $30, or a beginner rope tow ticket, rental snowboard and a group lesson for $35, beginning March 3 through the end of the 2007/2008 ski season.

At Nubs Nob Ski Area of Harbor Springs, (231) 526-2131 www.nubsnob.com, the late season spring discount period begins March 17 plus kids 9 to 12 ski for just $10 everyday when accompanied by a skiing parent.

Petoskey Harbor Springs Convention & Visitor’s Bureau, 1-800-845-2828, www.boynecountry.com, offers spring lift and lodging specials for skiing at Boyne Mountain, Boyne Highlands, or Nubs Nob and lodging at any of 15 area hotels and condos, most at under $50 per person per day.  Valid March 30 through the end of the 2007/2008 ski season.

Shanty Creek of Bellaire, 1-800-678-4111, www.shantycreek.com, has  college ID Special running through the end of the 2007/08 season.  Any college student presenting a valid College ID at Schuss Mountain pays just $20 for Day Lift Tickets, $20 for ski or Snowboard rentals and/or $20 for Group Ski lessons.

Saturday and Sunday, March 15th and 16th is Irish Weekend at Shanty featuring all things Irish, plus the annual downhill Cardboard Classic Race down Schuss Mountain in a sled you make yourself.  Events include the Silly Slalom, Rope Race, Seal Slide, Slush Cup, and the annual Family NASTAR Challenge. The original Northern Michigan Cardboard Classic features an incredible variety of cardboard racers. Past entries have included Harley Davidson motorcycles, Formula One cars, and Biplanes.
