Our Mission Statement:

MIsnow was formed to preserve the past and protect the future of skiing and snowboarding in Michigan.

  • Preserve the Past by telling the story of the rich history of skiing in Michigan and developing a Michigan Ski and Snowboard Museum;
  • Protect the Future with programs to introduce Michigan children to our slopes and trails, promote diversity and inclusion and provide education on sustainability practices.

We are new!

Started in 2022, MIsnow is a 501(c)3 charitable organization with a volunteer board of directors dedicated to its mission.

One of our first projects is to create a video documentary of the history of skiing in Michigan.  Did you know that Michigan is the home of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame and that skiing in our country began right here, in Michigan?  We’re working to tell that story!

With funding provided by donations from people like you, we are also working to provide scholarships to allow teachers, school groups, YMCA groups and others to introduce Michigan kids to skiing and snowboarding.  Once funded, the scholarships will be available on a need-based scale. We want all kids to have the opportunity to experience the sport that we have come to love!

Our Sustainability efforts will focus primarily on education, since climate change is the number one threat to the ski industry in Michigan. MIsnow’s Clarkston headquarters is doing its share to help power a sustainable future.  We are part of the DTE MIGreenPower, by purchasing wind and solar credits at an 85% level.  With that commitment, DTE kicks in the additional 15%, to give us a 100% wind/solar electricity-based footprint. More information is available at dteenergy.com/migreenpower and at www.green-e.org.
