15 Nov Three Great Reasons to Learn to Ski or Snowboard this Winter
Perhaps you are one of those people who has thought about skiing but hasn’t taken the (literal) leap off the couch to give it a try. This winter there are three special events that may persuade you to get outside and onto Michigan’s slopes and trails.
The first is Discover Michigan Skiing. For the entire month of January ski areas all across Michigan offer this special learn-to-ski package that includes rental equipment (ski or snowboard), a group lesson and a lift ticket or trail pass all for the special price of $20 for cross-country skiing or $35 for downhill skiing or snowboarding. Plus, this year there is a special incentive component called Bring a Friend weekend. More information on Discover Michigan Skiing is available at goskimichigan.org.
Next up is World Snow Day, January 21, 2018. This is an international event that draws attention to outdoor snow-related activity. Ski areas across the state are taking part by offering great incentives to get you off the couch and onto the slopes for this celebratory event. Details about special World Snow Day events will be posted at goskimichigan.org.
Finally, 2018 is a Winter Olympics year. The games take place in PyeongChang, Korea from February 9 through 25. Watching the best athletes from around the world compete in the winter games is great in itself. It’s even more exciting once you have personally experienced the sports. Be prepared for some hard-core watching by taking advantage of the special offers at Michigan ski areas this year. Learning to downhill ski, cross-country ski or snowboard will provide special appreciation for what our athletes experience and how exciting and exhilarating these sports can be. After all, humans were never meant to hibernate!
