Cold is Cool Terms & Conditions

Please review the following terms and conditions governing use of the MSIA Cold is Cool Passport for the 2026–2027 ski season.

  1. MSIA provides the Cold is Cool Passport only to eligible fourth- and fifth-grade students. The Passport is a non-transferable digital program issued for the eligible child (the “Holder”) and provides up to two complimentary children’s one-day lift tickets and/or trail passes at each participating Michigan Alpine and Nordic ski area during the 2026–2027 ski season, subject to these Terms & Conditions and the offer details shown in the Cold is Cool app.
  2. All participating ski areas reserve the right to withdraw from the program or change their offer at any time, and all Passport offers are subject to availability.
  3. No paid adult lift ticket or trail pass is required to redeem a Cold is Cool Passport offer. Parents and guardians are responsible for ensuring the child is appropriately supervised while participating. Individual ski-area operating rules, age requirements, and supervision policies continue to apply.
  4. The Passport may be used to obtain no more than one complimentary lift ticket or trail pass per participating ski area per day and no more than the number of visits included in that area’s offer. A current photo of the child must be uploaded to the app for the Passport to be valid. The child must be present when the offer is used, and the child’s identity may be verified by ski-area staff.
  5. The Cold is Cool Passport is nonrefundable.
  6. The Passport and any lift ticket or trail pass obtained through the Passport may not be transferred, shared, or sold to any other person, including family members. MSIA may immediately revoke a Passport if the Holder, parent, or guardian transfers or attempts to transfer use of the Passport or any benefit obtained through it to another person.
  7. MSIA may revoke and cancel a Passport without notice for misuse. Holders and their parents or legal guardians are responsible for proper use of the Passport at all times. In the event of misuse and cancellation, MSIA may recover damages to itself and/or participating resorts arising from Passport misuse, including reasonable attorney fees. All Passport Holders agree to comply with the rules and regulations of participating ski areas and all other applicable laws and regulations.
  8. MSIA reserves the right to modify or cancel the Program and all valid Passports at any time without notice. MSIA is not responsible for expenses incurred or opportunities forgone because of cancellation or modification of the Program.
  9. All information submitted with a Passport application is subject to verification by MSIA. Proof of fourth- or fifth-grade status is required. Application and account information will be handled in connection with administration and operation of the Cold is Cool program.
  10. Each time a Passport is redeemed, the email address and name(s) associated with the Passport family may become listed in the participating ski area’s or shop’s Cold is Cool account as a record of redemption. Parents or guardians may subsequently receive communications from a ski area or shop where a Passport benefit was redeemed.
  11. The Passport is not valid during the program-wide blackout periods: December 24, 2026 through January 2, 2027; January 16–17, 2027 (Martin Luther King Jr. weekend); and February 13–14, 2027 (Presidents Day weekend). Participating areas may publish additional restrictions or requirements in their individual Cold is Cool offers. Passport Holders should review the offer in the app before visiting.
  12. The Passport may not be combined with another discount or promotional offer, including school programs or the White Gold Card, and is not valid toward multi-day packages or redeemable for cash or trade. Because no paid adult ticket is required under the 2026–2027 program, an accompanying adult’s ticket, season-pass, or discount status does not determine the child’s basic Passport eligibility; however, all participants remain subject to any other requirements stated in the participating area’s offer.
  13. MSIA and its partners, their subsidiaries, franchisees, employees, members, officers, and agencies (the “Released Parties”) are not liable for any claims, demands, actions, or causes of action (the “Claims”) on account of any injury to participants which may occur from any cause in participating in an activity related to this program. Applicant, intending to be bound by the terms and conditions of this application, has caused this application to be accepted by the child’s parent or legal guardian.
  14. All parties must abide by Your Responsibility Code (2022):
    1. Always stay in control. You must be able to stop or avoid people or objects.
    2. People ahead or downhill of you have the right-of-way. You must avoid them.
    3. Stop only where you are visible from above and do not restrict traffic.
    4. Look uphill and avoid others before starting downhill or entering a trail.
    5. You must prevent runaway equipment.
    6. Read and obey all signs, warnings, and hazard markings.
    7. Keep off closed trails and out of closed areas.
    8. You must know how and be able to load, ride and unload lifts safely. If you need assistance, ask the lift attendant.
    9. Do not use lifts or terrain when impaired by alcohol or drugs.
    10. If you are involved in a collision or incident, share your contact information with each other and a ski area employee.
